PLUS Sports and Entertainment recognises the power that sports has to transform lives.
Our core belief is that sport is and should be inclusive, no matter the gender, race or ability.
PLUS and the RSL Group are proud to be working collaboratively with Foundation 92 to support young people in the Greater Manchester Area with additional needs to become more active, helping them to gain new transferable skills, such as leadership, communication, decision making, problem solving, and teamwork. Helping Foundation 92’s specialist inclusion team to deliver over 100 free sports, outreach and engagement sessions throughout 2022. These sessions will help young people become more active as well as supporting them to lead a healthy, confident, and positive lifestyle.
PLUS’ partner company Reech Sports was awarded initial support via Boccia International Sports Federation (BISFed) through Agitos Foundation, the development arm of the International Paralympic Committee, to run a coach education programme, regular Boccia training schools and a competitive Boccia Event. There are very few regular sports coaching programmes offered to people with disabilities in India and we aim to change that by offering Boccia training programmes to girls, boys, men and women with varying disabilities, allowing them to have a chance to be active, stay mentally and physical fit and most of all have the opportunity to participate in recreational and competitive sport. The programme was launched by organising the very first Boccia Level 1 coaching clinic held in India conducted by trainers from BISFed. 14 coaches from across India were trained and Certified as the first internationally certified Boccia trainers in the country. We have since launched training Centres in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune coaching 200 athletes with one of the Centres already producing a National Gold medallist at the 2020 National Boccia Championship.
PLUS supports ReechOut FC, a football coaching programme of the ReechOut Foundation, targeting kids from Asia’s largest slum, Dharavi located in Mumbai, India. The kids who are largely from the rag picking community, amongst the most financially and socially disadvantaged in the country are provided with weekly football coaching which also centers on life skills. The aim is to use football as a tool to divert them away from vices such as drugs, crime and alcohol and also build their competencies in the hope of getting better employment and financial security. The programme has been running since 2014 initially led by South United FC before its funding was cut in 2020 which led to it being taken over by ReechOut Foundation. Currently 110 kids are being trained and mentored as part of this programme.
